Supplementary Reading

The following books are on reserve at the library (look at the list for Math 273X). The first book covers class material. If you need a programming refresher, look at one of the other books.

Faires/Burden, Numerical Methods (XX 25,732).
This book covers essentially the same material as our textbook. It often helps to see the same material presented by different authors.
Etter, Engineering Problem Solving with Matlab (TA331 E88).
This book contains a very lengthy and very elementary introduction to Matlab programming. If you have good programming skills (in any computer language), you won't need this; use the Matlab Primer (see below) instead. If you are weak on programming, this book might be helpful.
Etter, Engineering Problem Solving with Ansi C (XX 27,802).
Same author, same style, but this time for the C programming language.
Atkinson, Numerical Methods with Fortran 77 (QA 76.73 F25 A84).
Different author, similar style, for Fortran.
