CATALOG DESCRIPTION: A careful development of calculus of functions of a real variable: limits, continuity, differentiation, integration, series.

PREREQUISITES: Math 307 or 317 (Linear Algebra) or 331 (Topology)

TEXTBOOK: Principles of Mathematical Analysis, by W. Rudin

EXAMS: There will be two midterms and one final exam. The final exam will be comprehensive over the entire semester. Makeup exams will only be given if there is a very good and verifiable reason for missing the exam. Notify me immediately if you cannot take an exam. There will also be some quizzes.

HOMEWORK: There will be weekly assignments. Most of the homework will involve proofs, and in general the homework will be indicative of the type and difficulty of material that you need to know for the exams. Homework assignments are expected to be turned in on time. Solutions for the more difficult exercises will be placed on reserve in the library.

GRADING:
homework: 240 points
quizzes: 80 points
midterms: 160 points
final exam: 120 points
