How Do I Get Help?
First, here's some advice for improving your chances of doing well in this course.
- Keep up with the class schedule: Try to keep up with the homework and reading, and get questions answered promptly. If you fall behind by a week or more, it will be very hard to catch up, and the lectures will not be any help. If you have problems with a particular section, spend extra time and do extra problems from that section, and get help as soon as possible from some of resources listed below.
Here are various ways you can get help understanding the material in this course.
- Ask questions in class: Some time will be set aside in almost every class (usually at the beginning) for going over homework problems and answering questions. Also, feel free to ask for clarifications during the lecture.
- Textbook and solutions manual: The answers to the odd problems are in the back of the book, and you can also order a solutions manual if you want.
- Practice exams: Practice exams are available in the bookstore. We will go over each practice exam in class before the actual exam.
- Mathematics Help Room: The Help Room is staffed by graduate students from the Mathematics Department and the Business College.
