Math 141 Schedule
(including class schedule, important assignment deadlines, and links to study guidelines and exam descriptions)
Units: The course is divided into 6 units, as given in the table below. Study guidelines for completing each unit, along with detailed unit exam descriptions, are provided by clicking on the corresponding topic in the table below (some links may not be available yet).
This is a self-paced course, and for the most part you can proceed at your own pace. The "target" date listed for each unit in the table below is the recommended date for completion of each unit. This is designed to help you keep on track to complete the entire course by the end of the semester. However, each unit must be completed by the "deadline" date shown in the table below. If you have not taken the unit pretest and taken the proctored unit exam by this date, then you will receive 0 points that exam. Virtually no exceptions are granted for missing deadlines (see the deadline policy for details).
If you usually wait until the deadline dates to take the exams, you will probably do very poorly in the class. Try to work on the course every day on a regular basis, and plan to complete the units well before the deadline dates. That way you will not be caught with missing a deadline if you become ill or if an emergency arises.
There are also significant incentives for taking unit exams and pretests before the deadline date:
The proctored unit exams must be taken online in the presence of a
designated proctor.
See the proctor
arrangements page for details.
Note that the class begins June 29 and ends August 7. The deadline dates in the table below are essentially set in groups of two units at a time. In particular, the deadline for the first unit is Tuesday July 7, and the deadline for the second unit is just two days later, Thursday July 9. This grouping of units is designed to add some flexibility to the schedule for students with other responsibilities and activities during the summer. However, for best results, try to work according to the target dates as much as possible.
Most students find units 1-4 to be the easiest. Thus, you should try to work through those units quickly, and schedule additional study time for the more difficult units: 5 and 6.
Final Exam: There
will be one final exam, as shown in the following table. Study
guidelines for the final exam, along with a detailed exam
description,
are provided by clicking on the exam in the table below. The final exam
is also a
proctored exam, but it can only be taken twice.
