Math 141-142: Online Testing Practice

Math 141 deadline: Thursday October 15
Math 142 deadline: Thursday October 1

First read the Online Testing page (including the Instructions and Rules for Pretests and the Instructions and Rules for Proctored Exams), the Math Syntax page, and the Technical Notes. Then do the following:

1. If you have not done so already, you must create a user record in the online testing system.
   (Note: You will not be able to create a user record until the official beginning date of the course.)
   • Choose the Register for this class link on the testing web site for Math 141 or Math 142 to create your user record. Fill in the requested information in the form that appears. Please be accurate.
     • Choose your own login name and password, and write it down.
     • Your "ISU netid" is the portion of your ISU email address preceding "@iastate.edu".
     • Please fill in your email address, even though it is optional. This will give me a way to get in touch with you if there is any problem with your records, and to send you announcements. Also, if you forget your password, the testing system can send it to your email address.
2. Complete the Online Testing Practice assignment for Math 141 or Math 142. There are 21 questions dealing with the testing system and course rules. Take this assignment as many times as you need to until you pass it (I have set 19 as the "passing" level, but you should be able to get them all correct). This assignment will help you learn how the testing system works and help you avoid problems in the future. In addition, you will receive 5 extra credit points if you pass this assignment by the deadline.
   • Directions: Click on the link above for your class, and then choose Online Testing Practice.
3. Go on to Unit 1.
