Choose
a partner
Select any four of these TI 92 situations to illustrate:
a)
A programming problem
b) Graph a function and its derivative on the same coordinate
axes.
c) Approximate a solution to an exponential equation.
d) Graph a function and its inverse on the same coordinate axes.
e) Approximate to the thousandths position each root of a quartic
equation.
f) Solve a linear equation in one variable.
g) Find the points of intersection to the hundredths position
for an exponential function and a trigonometric function.
h) Select 20 test values and calculate the mean, sum,sum of
the squares, sample standard deviation, number of data points,
minimum of the values, the first quartile, the median, the third
quartile, the maximum of the values.
I) Solve a system of three linear equations in three unknowns
using matrices.
j) Find an indefinite integral.
k) Graph a 3-dimensional figure.

540Outline for Article Presentation
Select
another person with whom to work
We will assign an article to your group of two
Take about 30 minutes for your presentation
Handle this activity as if you were teaching a lesson
Overall
Structure
(Perhaps Four Chunks)
1)
Overview (summary) of main points: (First Chunk)
ELMO
PowerPoint
Matrix
Other?
2)
Expansion (Second Chunk)
One
person could bring in information related to the topic obtained
from another source-e.g. library, WWW, experts,...
One person could bring in personal experiences related to the
topic
Ideas on how to implement ideas found in the article
Implications for teaching mathematics, the mathematics curriculum,
mathematics education in general
3)
Class involvement (Third Chunk)
4)
Responsibility of other class members (Fourth Chunk)
We
want everyone to read and study the articles. This activity
(lead by presenters) would most likely involve questions and
comments from or directed to other class members. We would as
instructors from time to time randomly ask class members questions
about articles.
Final Remarks
Order above may be altered. However, try to cover these points.
