I'll put comments- assignments, things missed in class, etc. on this link. Probably you should check a couple times each week to see if anything is added.
   
week 1 (8-24 to 8-28) :
We covered sec.'s 1.1, 1.2. Quiz Wednesday on reduction to eschelon form, reduction to RREF, solution of linear systems (by hand); problems like 1.2 7-14.
 
week 2 (8-31 to 9-4):
We cover sections 1.3-1.5 this week.

HW 1: (Due next friday 9-11) 1.3 14, 26; 1.4: 12, 18; 1.5: 12, 20
 

week 3:(9-7 - 9-11)
We skip sec. 1.6. We have covered through sec. 1.8 so far.
 
week 4: (Thruogh 9-18)
Monday's quiz did not go real well for most people. I will give people an opportunity to make up a few points on wednesday.

We have covered through 2.1. Test next friday on material through sec. 2.1.

HW2: due wednesday: 1.8: 10, 12, 20, 32(plug in some numbers that show how the definition p. 77 fails)

1.9: 10, 18; also, for T in problem 18: is T onto? 1-1? (explain)

2.1: 9, 12

Final exam: in class Noon Monday (of finals week of course).

Final will be about 40percent new material (6.2 through 6.6) (on section 6.6 only prob's 1-4) and the rest of the problems will be similar to previous test problems. Here is a few additional review problems to brush up on the old stuff:

1.4: 15, 17, 21; 1.5: 5,15; 1.7 5,9,11,27,29; 1.9: 11, 17, 25, 27

2.2 31; 2.8 7, 23; 2.9 19, 25; 3.1 11, 3.2 19, 22, 29, 39

4.4 1,9, 27, 31; 4.5 7,9, 21, 23; 4.6 9, 11; 4.7 7; 5.1 15, 19; 5.2 18; 5.3 7,9; 5.5 1 (If you know how to do a problem its probably better to skip that one and move on the the next.)
