Course Description (from ISU Catalog)

Math 266, Elementary Differential Equations, Cr. 3. Prereq: Grade of C- or better in Math 166. Solution methods for ordinary differential equations. First order equations, linear equations, constant coefficient equations. Eigenvalue methods for systems of first order linear equations. Introduction to stability and phase plane analysis.

Math 267, Elementary Differential Equations and Laplace Transforms, Cr. 4. Prereq: Grade of C- or better in Math 166. Same as 266 but also including Laplace transforms and series solutions to ordinary differential equations.


Fundamentals of Differential Equations and Boundary Value Problems (6th Ed.) , by Nagle, Saff, and Snider .

Suggested Calendar for Math 266 and 267

This syllabus has the material common to both courses covered during the first 12 weeks. Math 266 concludes after the 13th week, while Math 267 continues on, covering the method of Laplace transforms and power series methods.
