MWNA Day 2010

Getting to Ames

By air: Fly into Des Moines International Airport (DSM), 40 miles away. Executive Express ((888) 522-9899) is running a shuttle service several times a day. The airport also has a list of other DSM Ground Transportation info.

By car: Ames is located at the intersection of I-35 and Highway 30, and very convenient to reach by car. From I-35, take exit 111 west (towards Boone), and then the third exit (University Boulevard). There are three hotels directly south of the exit, the university is to the north.

Getting to the conference site

The conference is being held in Carver Hall on the Iowa State University campus.

Take the University Boulevard exit from Highway 30 and go north on University Boulevard. Pass Reiman Gardens, the stadium and the coliseum. Turn left on Lincolnway.

For free parking closest to the conference site, turn right at the second traffic light on the top of the hill onto Union Drive. Turn right again at the bottom, and use the two-floor parking structure or the open lots beyond. There is no cost on weekends. Walk west along Wallace Road, Union Drive and Morrill Road to Carver Hall.

If you are staying at the Memorial Union, or if you would prefer to pay for slightly closer covered parking, keep going on Lincolnway over the top of the hill and turn right at the bottom, into the MU parking garage. It costs $8 to park all day. Parking is free if you are staying at the MU hotel.

Handicapped parking is available right in front of Carver Hall. Continue on Lincolnway past the Memorial Union to Welch Road. Turn right, go straight through the first intersection, and turn right into the parking lot.

See the route in Google Maps.
