Assignment 6 (assigned 1/28, due 1/30)

I have posted here a page from an advanced mathematical text that you will not understand.  Print this page, read it, and circle all of the logical words or symbols that we have been studying (such as if, then, for all, there exists, sets in roster notation or in set builder notation).  Try to include any "hidden" quantifiers that you can locate (expressed by words such as "any" meaning all, or "has" meaning there exists, as in "the equation has a solution").  In the margin next to a sentence that has one of these words, write the logical symbol corresponding to the word.  For instance, if you see a word indicating an existential quantifier, write a backwards E in the margin next to it.

Read section 2.4.  Do 2adfg, 3bcdf, and 5.  Write your answers on the back of the sheet you printed off for the previous question.

Please mark in your book that problem6 on page 70 is not stated correctly.  (Do not do this problem.)    I will discuss this problem in class and explain the error.
