Judo Information

Current ISU Judo Club president Steve LeBlanc watches Adam Bohl throwing former president Kedge Zawack

Judo was introduced in 1882 by Jigoro Kano in Tokyo. It is an Olympic sport based on the self-defence techniques of ju-jutsu, including throwing, pinning, armlocks and chokeholds. These techniques have been adapted so that they are safe to use without competitors having to "pull their punches."

The Iowa State University Judo Club (part of the Cyclone Martial Arts Club) trains two or three times a week in 202E Forker Building (click for map). The summer schedule starting May 14 is Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays at 5.45pm for 6pm. Beginners are always welcome. For further information, visit the Post Office.
