Focused Research Interaction

Computational Methods and Applied  PDEs

Spring  2007 @ ISU

FRI  Program:   FRI meets once a week for a combination of seminars, student presentations and research discussions. Anyone interested in computational methods for applied PDEs  is welcome to attend.

The  goals of the FRI are to provide a forum:  (i) for participants to discuss classical or recent research articles on interesting topics in computational methods and applied PDEs; (ii) for students, postdocs to present  their own research, get feedback and suggestions; (iii) for researchers from around campus or elsewhere to present interesting research results or give tutorial lectures.

FRI  Focus:  The discussion will be mainly focused on computational issues related to time-dependent  partial differential equations  arising  in applications such as complex fluids,   high frequency  wave propagation,  material processing  as well as biological  genome evolution, among others. Emphasis will be placed on  mathematical modeling,  the design of  novel numerical algorithms to the model,  and the insight they give to the underlying physics.

Regular Meeting Time:  Wednesdays  2:10-4:00 pm, Carver 150

Reference Journals:
SIAM Journal on Numerical Analysis
Journal of Computational Physics
SIAM Journal on Scientific Computing

... and  more

Topics and Schedule:

Spring2007  is devoted mainly to discussion of various issues encountered in our research investigation among group members.
