Yes, I would be happy to give a talk on impossibility problems in algebra. I probably will give three examples "triangular puzzle peg" "Problems of Antiquity" "Solutions by formulas" The first example should be clear, the second pretty clear, and the last probably much less clear. The goal is to show "How it is possible to prove you cannot trisect the angle." I do not really go into the details, but I give an over view. The typical student reaction when they read in the book that it is impossible to trisect the angle is "How does he know what I can and cannot do. Maybe the author cannot figure out a way to do it, but I am clever. I may discover a way to do it. Anyway, how can he know what I can and cannot do." My best day is Tuesday. The next best is Thursdays except for November 8. I could come on Monday, Wednesday, or Friday but it would involve getting a substitute or canceling my Abstract Algebra Course. .
