The assigned problems are indicated by putting the number in parentheses. Fax in only the assigned problems. After each assigned problem, please write a sentence or two detailing what you learned. I do not assign busy work. The problems are chosen for the ideas involved. Rather than assigning a whole series of problems as a drill to maximize your computation speed, a few are assigned to measure the understanding of the material. I try to allow enough time to do the exams. If there is a problem with not having enough time, let me know and we can arrange something. One good way to focus in on what you learned is to try to work the problem before class. If you can work the problem already, then say, "I worked the problem before studying the material. I learned not to be afraid of trying something new." If you cannot work the problem without studying the material, point out what the problem was. Perhaps you might say, "I did not know what a unit vector was, now I know that you divide by the length." Homework in total counts the same as two tests. The problems before midterm count as one test. The problems after midterm count as one test.
