 In this course we shall discuss structural and extremal  properties of  graphs.

An approximate list  of topics covered each week:

Weeks 1-2:       Basic notions: paths and cycles, trees and forests, connectivity, minors
Week 3:            Trees and optimization
Week 4:            Mathchings, factors
Weeks 5,6:        Connectivity and paths
Weeks 7,8:        Colorings (vertex, edge, and others)
Week 9:             Planar graphs
Week 10:           Cycles; perfect graphs
Weeks 11,12:    Extremal problems
Week 13:           Ramsey-type problems
Week 14:           Random graphs
Week 15:           Applications


Grading:
Grades will be based upon
1. biweekly homework assignments  (60% )
2. midterm exam (oral or written)      (20 %)
3. final exam.                                  (20%)
