Topics:
Introduction to writing proofs in Mathematics
Logical reasoning (statements, operations, predicates, sets,
quantifiers...)
Constructing proofs (direct, by contradiction, induction ...)
Proofs in set theory, number theory, functional analysis.
Grading:
Homework, quizzes and class
participation 70%; Final 20%; Midterm 10%.
Note, there will be no make-up exams or quizzes except in the case
of medical or family emergency.
Grading Scale:
90+ A, 80+ B, 70+ C, 50+ D, 49- F.
