SYLLABUS	OBJECTIVES
Chapter 1: Linear Equations in Linear Algebra §§1-5,7-9 (3+ weeks) Chapter 2: Matrix Algebra §§1-5 (2- weeks) Chapter 3: Determinants (1 week) Chapter 4: Vector Spaces §§1-7 (2+ weeks) Chapter 5: Eigenvalues and Eigenvectors §§1-7 (2+ weeks) Chapter 6: Orthogonality and Least Squares §§1-6 (2 weeks) Consult the Math 307 calendar for reading and homework assignments and exam dates. Your course grade will be determined from (percentages subject to adjustment):

[40%] Written homework. A written assignment will be due roughly every three weeks.
You may work alone or with one partner on homework. If you work with a partner, submit one paper with both names on it.
Practice problems will be assigned in every textbook section we cover. Practice problems are not to be handed in and will not be graded, but tests will be designed under the assumption that you have solved them.
[10%] In-Class work. A few problems will be assigned every day. You will be called on to present solutions on the board.
[50%] Midterm Exams (2) and Final Exam..
